A Field Trip for Denbury Inc.

Wrapped up another Applied Stratigraphix field trip successfully. Thank you Denbury Inc. for trusting us with training your employees.

It was excellent having experts like Steven Fryberger discussing eolianites and Molly Turko, PhD lead participants through fractures and their role in hydrocarbon production.

Here are some of the highlights:

Day 1 of the Applied Stratigraphix field trip for Denbury Inc. focused on facies and fractures of the Tensleep-Madison-Phosphoria in Wyoming. Steven Fryberger, one of the world experts on eolianites discussed the role of sabkha evaporites as fluid flow barriers in the Tensleep.

Day 2 of the Applied Stratigraphix field trip for Denbury Inc. focused on facies and fractures of the Tensleep-Madison-Phosphoria in Wyoming. Starting off with a morning lecture on fractures by Molly Turko, PhD and eolian bounding surfaces in the field.

Day 3 of the Applied Stratigraphix field trip for Denbury Inc. focused on covering fractures and paleo-stress fields and examples of some of the best karst features we have seen anywhere (and we have seen a lot).

Day 4 of the Applied Stratigraphix field trip for Denbury Inc. focused on facies and fractures of the Tensleep-Madison-Phosphoria in Wyoming. Cyclicity and Chert nodules in the Phosphoria and fractures in the Tensleep

Photo by Scott Maxwell shows Ali Jaffri, Ph.D. discussing the role of interdune carbonates as baffles to fluid flow.
